Es war das Jahr 1986. Ein kleiner, unschuldiger Junge mit einem Affenschwanz auf dem Rücken und einem magischen Holzstab in der Hand betrat zum allerersten Mal die große Bühne der Kampfkünste: Das 21. Tenkaichi Budokai – das Große Turnier unter dem Himmel.
Für die Welt war es nur ein weiteres Kampfsport-Spektakel. Für uns Fans war es der Moment, in dem aus einer humorvollen Abenteuerreise eine epische Legende wurde.
In diesem Turnier ging es nicht um die Rettung des Universums oder gigantische Weltenzerstörer. Es ging um den reinen, unversehrten Geist des Kampfsports: Ausdauer, Respekt, Freundschaft und den unstillbaren Willen, über sich selbst hinauszuwachsen.
Dieses Artwork bringt die acht Kämpfer zusammen, die die Arenaböden zum Beben brachten:
Son-Goku: Der unbedarfte Wunderknabe, der mit strahlendem Lachen und dem Watsu-Kampfanzug der Schildkröten-Schule bewies, dass wahres Potenzial keine Grenzen kennt.
Krillin: Der treue Weggefährte und ehrgeizige Schüler, der Seite an Seite mit Goku über seine eigenen Ängste hinauswuchs.
Jackie Chun: Der geheimnisvolle, legendäre Greif – in Wahrheit ihr Meister Muten-Roshi –, der verkleidet angetreten war, um seinen Schülern die wichtigste Lektion ihres Lebens zu lehren: Es wird da draußen immer jemanden geben, der noch stärkere Muskeln und einen noch schärferen Geist hat.
Yamchu: Der einstige Wüstenräuber mit seinem unverkennbaren Wolfsrachen-Angriff.
Nam: Der würdevolle Wüstenkrieger, der für das Überleben und das Wasser seines Heimatdorfes kämpfte.
Lanfan, Giran & Bakterian: Die unvergesslichen, skurrilen Exoten, die dem Turnier seine einzigartige Würze und den unnachahmlichen Humor der frühen Akira-Toriyama-Ära verliehen.
